Privacy Policy
CodecPlayer is a local video player for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains how the app handles information.
Data collection
CodecPlayer does not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, contact information, precise location, or usage data. It does not require an account and does not use advertising or tracking SDKs.
Local media
Videos selected through Files remain at their original location whenever iOS allows persistent access. CodecPlayer stores a security-scoped bookmark on your device so it can reopen a selected file. Videos selected through Photos may be copied into the app’s private storage so they can be reopened reliably.
CodecPlayer does not upload your videos.
Information stored on your device
Playlist order, file access bookmarks, playback progress, completion state, and the most recently played item are stored locally. You can remove individual playlist items or clear the playlist in the app. Deleting CodecPlayer removes information held in its private container.
System services
CodecPlayer uses Apple system frameworks for Files, Photos, AirPlay, system volume, and Picture in Picture. Your use of Apple services is also subject to Apple’s terms and privacy policy.
Third-party software
CodecPlayer includes MobileVLCKit to support additional media formats. MobileVLCKit is open-source software distributed under its applicable licenses. CodecPlayer does not integrate analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when CodecPlayer’s functionality or data practices change. The latest version will remain available on this page.
